EFT Tapping & Energy Alignment For Horses
A Refined Approach to Emotional Release, Nervous System Regulation & Performance Support
For Riders who know that True Performance begins with a Calm, Balanced, and Emotionally Supported Horse.
When Your Horse Feels Everything... Even What Isn't Visible
Equine-Facilitated EFT is an effective method for relaxing horses, re-programming their stress responses, releasing physical and mental blockages, and enabling them to achieve optimal balance and athletic performance.
Horses are highly sensitive beings. They constantly read and respond not only to physical cues, but to subtle emotional and energetic shifts-in their environment, in the rider, and within themselves.
Just like people, horses can experience stress, fear, emotional shock, and tension that may stay stored in their body and nervous system from injury-related memory and trauma influencing:
- Movement and Performance
- Sensitivity and Reactivity
- Willingness and Focus
- Overall Wellbeing
What is often labeled as "behavior" is, in many cases, unprocessed emotions or nervous system activation.
These experiences can influence their behavior, performance, and overall wellbeing.
EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques), combined with intuitive and energetic support, offers a gentle way to help horses release emotional stress and return to a natural state of calm and balance.
Why Choose EFT?
01
A Sophisticated, Horse-Led Approach
This work goes beyond traditional methods.
It combines gentle EFT tapping applied directly on the horse, nervous system awareness, and intuitive energy alignment to support deep release — without force, pressure, or overwhelm.
Each session is entirely tailored and guided by the horse.
Nothing is imposed.
Everything is observed, felt, and respected.
This is not about “doing a technique” to the horse — it’s about listening, responding, and creating a space where the horse can release and relax.
02
What makes this work different?
Unlike standardized techniques, this approach is:
- Refined — adapted to the unique sensitivity of each horse
- Responsive — guided in real time by the horse’s feedback
- Integrated — combining physical touch, emotional awareness, and energetic alignment
- Complementary — working alongside veterinary care, training, and rehabilitation
This is not about “fixing” the horse.
It is about creating the conditions in which the horse can release, regulate, and return to balance naturally.
03
The Method: Gentle EFT Tapping for Horses
EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) is traditionally used to regulate the human nervous system through acupressure points.
In this advanced adaptation for horses, very subtle, rhythmic touch is applied to carefully selected areas of the body,
The contact is light, intentional, and always adjusted to the horse’s comfort.
Combined with a calm, regulated presence, this supports:
✔ Release of stored emotional tension
✔ Nervous system downregulation
✔ Increased physical and emotional softness
✔ Greater receptivity and focus
04
A Deeply Observational Process
Horses communicate their experience clearly when given the space to do so.
During sessions, subtle shifts may occur, including:
- Softening of the eyes and expression
- Lowering of the head and body
- Licking, chewing, or yawning
- Changes in breathing and posture
- A visible transition into calm presence
These are indicators of release, integration, and nervous system regulation.
05
The Standard of Care
Every session is conducted with the highest level of respect for the horse:
- Fully consent-based and horse-led
- No restraint, no force, no expectation
- Adapted moment-to-moment
- Stopped immediately if the horse signals discomfort
This level of attentiveness is what allows the work to go deeper — safely.
06
Particular Beneficial For
This work is especially supportive for horses who:
- Are sensitive, reactive, or easily overwhelmed
- Show tension or resistance under saddle
- Have experienced stress, accidents, or inconsistent handling
- Are recovering from injury or physical strain
- Struggle to relax in training or competition environments
- Are highly attuned to their rider’s emotional state
It is equally valuable for high-performance horses where subtle tension can impact results.

The Result
When a horse feels safe enough to release tension:
- Movement becomes more fluid
- Reactivity decreases
- Focus and willingness improve
- Recovery is supported
- The connection with the rider deepens
What emerges is not just a “calmer horse” — but a horse that feels balanced, present, and available.
Surrogate Tapping & Distant Tapping
- Tap on yourself about the situation and challenges you both face. Clear your stress, anxiety, and overwhelm to free some resistance from your part in your horse’s stressful situation. It can be magical!
- Now, start with surrogate or distance tapping. Both are done away from your horse. The practitioner or owner role-plays the horse. When representing, be transparent and put your intellectual mind aside.
- Allow subtle imaginary and sensations from your horse to come through, and the connection will be immediate.
- At this stage, you’re forming a relationship, working as a team, and offering healing through tapping. Your horse may be open to it or not. Be unattached to the outcome. “You can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make it drink.”
- Keep your agenda out of the way and don’t try to fix your horse.
Let it flow
Surrender to what wants to come out. Be fully present and focused on doing your part. Let your animal find its own way of healing and perhaps discover a new perspective. The tapping will dissolve any trauma on its own timing.

EFT Tapping Points Guidelines for Horses
Similar tapping techniques as for humans on various acupressure points using the fingertips of the fingers can be adapted for horses.
Starting with the Set up Statement on the Karate Chop Point is done on the rider's side of the hand to set up the stage for the healing.
Some EFT points for horses may include:
Along the topline (with care and sensitivity)
- If tapping on the head is not accepted as it can be sometimes sensitive. Another alternative is to tap along on both side of the spine (bladder meridian) which will help regulating the whole nervous system. Tap from neck to tail
1. Along the Head and Face
- Set up Statement on the Karate Chop Point is done on the rider's side of the hand to set up the stage for the healing.
- Top of the Head, if accepted
- Around the eye: top, side and under the eye
- Under the nose
- Chin
Chest and Heart-Girth Area
- Collarbone: Tapping with the 4 fingers (bear claw) to reach a bigger area to encompass
=> L1 (grief or some big emotions) and,
=> K27 (good for emotional release and a great master point for all the organs).
- Sometimes tapping only on one point is enough for example on the chin point which is very soothing and help release tension.
- Each horse is different - sessions are always intuitive and consent-based meaning the horse's comfort guides the process.

A Gentle Complementary Approach
Equine EFT is a complementary method designed to support emotional wellbeing and nervous system balance.
- It works alongside:
- Veterinary Care
- Physiotherapy
- Professional training
- Rehabilitation programs
The goal is to support both horse and rider so they can
- perform,
- train, and
- ride
together with greater calm, trust, and harmony.
